Our History
In 1975, a small group of people gathered together to fast and pray, longing to experience God in a way they had never experienced Him before. The ultimate outcome of this experience with God was the birth of Bible Truth Church. What began in the basement of a house has now grown into a vibrant church that is passionate about declaring the message of the kingdom of God.
Our founding Pastor, Andrew Picklyk, began his ministry as an energetic 21 year-old in Northern Manitoba. His early years consisted of ministering as a Youth Pastor to young people, doing radio ministry, and travelling across the USA and Canada preaching in churches and camps. His early emphasis on foundational truths regarding the home, family, and praise and worship attracted a hungry, God-seeking audience. From the twelve people who attended that first meeting in 1975, Bible Truth Church was born.
God exceeded our expectations in the past and continues to do so every day. Over the years Bible Truth Church has changed facilities numerous times due to outgrowing its building’s limits, but the heartbeat of our church continues to be that of establishing leadership in every believer for all aspects of life.
Whether through missions, Christian education, ministry training, Sunday services, worship, small group life, evangelism, youth, or day-to-day living, members of Bible Truth Church consistently encounter God in many ways as we align ourselves with God and actively function where He has strategically placed us. In this way, we all play a part in reaching our world for Christ.

Our Core Values
Worship
The highest response humanity can give God is worship. Worship is the outlook or outflow of the human heart as it reveals and reflects the inner work of the Lord Jesus Christ in a person’s life. It is an expression that transcends time and eternity. Worship profoundly transforms the life of every believer in a miraculous way, making the irrefutable quality of Christ’s character evident through ours while revealing the hope of salvation to the world. The most obvious result is an effective, enthusiastic church that individually and corporately brings praise to the Lord in music, song and lifestyle. As believers, we recognize that we are His worshipers and that we must worship in spirit and truth, for these are the kind of worshipers our Heavenly Father seeks (John 4:23-24).
Family
Strong families, vibrant marriages, life-giving relationships, and well established homes make for a healthy community. But these things do not happen automatically; they require incentive and an ongoing investment. In order to fulfill the original purpose for creation, God established a family and instructed them to be fruitful, to increase, to fill the earth, and to rule. Out of this original family, nations would ultimately grow to do God’s will. The family unit remains the hub of the church, the core of society and the foundation of God’s intended purpose in the earth. The church, culture, and civil governments must do everything possible to positively influence, support and strengthen families and true Biblical values. Not everyone can, nor will be, directly involved with the diversity of programs and organizations that are greatly impacting; however, we believe everyone has the potential to make a positive difference somewhere, somehow becoming involved with and influencing the family he or she is placed in – whether it be your “family” at home, at church, at work, at school, or with the families in our community.
Leadership
The value of leadership is unquestionable; it affects all facets of life. But high-quality leadership hinges on the one leading; it begins with the quality of the person, not the organization. We believe God wants His Church to lead in society, to take initiative, to become successful in business, to be on the top and not the bottom, to enjoy a victorious, prosperous life, to emulate principles of leadership and success formulated in the Bible, and to model abundant living. Achieving this kind of family, community, company, and spiritually-based leadership is absolutely critical to the world’s success. Consequently, the process of identifying, training, and providing opportunities for individuals to lead on a local and global scale is an invaluable part of Bible Truth Church and its members.
Outreach
Every believer, no matter their place in life or business, serves as a light of the good news of salvation found in Jesus Christ. At home or abroad, this principle does not change. Outreach is the heart of God, the tangible expression of His love. Love sent Christ into the world as Saviour and Redeemer. It is love that compels us to give freely and to go faithfully into all the world with the message of hope and freedom –the essence of both salvation and the grand commission Christ gave to His disciples in Matthew 28:18-20. Outreach is helping others stand and succeed in life. Outreach is serving without expecting anything in return. Outreach is working together for a cause, regardless of whether that cause is global justice or compassion ministry, crusade-style evangelism or hunger relief efforts, supporting credible missions’ organizations or simply living an authentic Christian life. Outreach is shining bright with the love and light of Jesus Christ for all to see. Not only is outreach a privilege, it is the responsibility of all believers!
Our Mission
As a church, our mission is simple: we are called and empowered by the Holy Spirit to bring the reality of God to our community, city, nation, and world. We fulfill this mission through worship, discipleship, fellowship, evangelism, and ministry.
Our Core Beliefs
The Word of God
We believe the Bible in its entirety as the Word of God in its original manuscripts, holy, inspired, infallible, and our source of Scriptural light and truth. (John 17:17; 1 Corinthians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:17-17)
The Person of God
We believe in the One God, manifested as the Father, Creator of all things, the Son, the only and all sufficient Saviour, and the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, the Divine agency of regeneration and the Revealer of Christ and His work on the cross. The Triune God, eternal in existence and equal in Glory, Majesty and Power. (Genesis 1:1; John 16:13; Colossians 1:15-20)
Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ became Man without ceasing to be God, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin birth. He lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died an atoning death, bodily resurrected, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will return personally in power and glory. He is Lord and the only Saviour of a lost and dying humanity.
(Isaiah 7:14; 9:6; Luke 1:26-35; John 1:14-18)
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit whose indwelling enables a believer to live a godly life and to empower the believer to use spiritual gifts for carrying out the work of Jesus Christ. We believe in the infilling of the Holy Spirit, subsequent to the New Birth [salvation], with the biblical evidence of speaking with other tongues. (Acts 2:4, 38; 1 Corinthians 12:14)
Sin
We believe that all mankind by nature is dead in sins and trespasses, and in his fallen state, is unable to remedy his lost condition. Jesus Christ is the only Saviour of lost mankind, and the only way to a peaceful relationship with the Father.
(John 14:6; Romans 3:23; 1 Timothy 2:5)
Salvation
We believe that salvation is the gift of God given to man by grace through the work of the Holy Spirit, and received by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Forgiveness of sin and everlasting life is only accomplished by the shed blood of Jesus on the cross and His resurrection. (Romans 6:23; Romans 10:9-10; Ephesians 2:8-9;)
Baptism
We believe in water baptism by immersion in water as a visible representation of our death, burial, and resurrection with Christ. (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38)
Communion
We believe communion or Lord’s Supper is a means of fellowship for the Spiritual body of Christ [the Church], and should be regularly celebrated in remembrance of Him. (1 Corinthians 11:24-30)
Church
We believe that every born again believer is a member of the mysterious Body of Christ, otherwise known as His Church. (1 Corinthians 2:9-10; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Ephesians 1:20-23; Colossians 1:18)
Evangelism
We believe the obligation of the saved is to spread the Gospel to the lost world. This may be accomplished through the tenets of the Bible, and the sacrificial giving of the saints. (Mathew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15)
Christ’s Return
We believe in the physical, personal, soon return of our Lord Jesus Christ. No man knows the time, but believers are to give their full attention to obedience of His Word and ways. (1 Corinthians 15:50-58; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)
Lifestyle
We believe that all believers are called into a life of separation from sinful practices, and that they should take every opportunity to promote righteousness and Godliness. (Romans 12:1-2; James 4:4)
The Laying on of Hands
We believe that the laying on of hands as practiced in the New Testament is an operation of the Ministry of the Holy Spirit for: the dedication of children, ordination of ministries, healing the sick, baptism of the Holy Spirit, and impartation of spiritual gifts. (Mark 10:13:16; Acts 13: 2-3; Acts 19:1-6; 2 Timothy 1:6; James 5:14)
